Bike Friday.

June 19th is another Bike Friday event; the town & other vendors collect at Government Center to provide a breakfast bonanza for the bike-commuter convoys arriving from all over the city. I am looking forward to a second morning of gracious enjoyment. My first experience with Bike Friday was during the combined Bay State/ Cambridge Bike Week. The Harvard Square breakfast hosted by Harvard's Commuter Choice Program pepped up my midweek by awarding me night lights simply for showing up (thank you!). Similar "rewards" were offered at Friday's breakfast to the epic music of Led Zeppelin eerily vibrating between the cloudy concrete walls of our City Hall. While I think the freebies are both unnecessary and surprising considering the economy ... the food is an excellent way of luring folks in. Well done, and once again, thanks.

(from the Bike Fridays site ....)
Convoys leave at 6:45AM from various locations in and around Boston including Newton, Brookline, Belmont, Cambridge, Lexington, Arlington, Somerville, Dorchester, Jamaica Plain, West Roxbury, Roslindale, Allston, Brighton and many more. You arrive, non-stop, at City Hall Plaza by 8:15.

Good-Willed Bikers.

Despite the ever-loving desire to physically lecture drivers on not using their cellphones while I heroically try to change lanes in early morning traffic, tonight I put that aside to thank Bikes Not Bombs for two things:

1) A great evening of friendly volunteering, and

2) Wheels for the Mass Climate Summer project.

No bombs, Yes renewed cheer to begin the morning commute with, and Yes treads for the trailers we built last weekend. Excellent.
